The Dream.
In Summer of 2010, three aviation-loving high school students decided that they wanted to take their love for commercial aviation to the next level.
When Microsoft Flight Simulator on a 24 inch screen could no longer substitute for the thrill of flying a real jetliner, The 727 Legacy Project was born.
This website follows our Boeing 727 simulator project from conception to reality.

The Vision.
From the project's original conception, the mission was to build a highly immersive Boeing 727 flight simulator that would be as realistic as possible. This original goal was achieved, and now the vision of The 727 Legacy Project has evolved. In addition to the form and function of the simulator, it is now our duty to carry on the historical legacy of the iconic Boeing 727 jet.
The Story.
The shell of our simulator began life as an American Airlines Cockpit Procedures Trainer (CPT) in the 1970's. Forty years later, she finds herself receiving a total makeover to gain more functionality than ever imagined. The CPT was graciously donated to the project from FedEx who acquired the trainer from American with the purchase of 727 aircraft in the 1980's. When we received the CPT, the windows were opaque, the gauges were faux, and the original computer system had no functionality. Since the beginning of our project, the simulator has now logged over 2,000 flight hours exercising the functionality of a commercial flight simulator. The project does not end here; we continue to improve our simulator every day. The simulator is now made majority of real world parts sourced from numerous different 727s.
